ABC Cancels ‘Queens’ and ‘Promised Land’

ABC has canceled freshman series Queens and Promised Land ahead of their Upfronts presentation May 17. Both series under performed for the network and their cancellations are not surprising, though disappointing.

Queens launched Tuesdays at 10 with a heavy ad push and never found a solid audience. The series also dealt with losing cast member Eve due to her pregnancy. The series aired 13 episodes, wrapping its season in February.

Promised Land was pulled from the schedule after airing five episodes on Mondays at 10. The final episodes of the season premiered on Hulu as a Hulu original series.

Heading into Upfronts, ABC has renewed dramas The Good Doctor, Grey’s Anatomy, Station 19, and The Rookie. The networky also renewed comedies Abbott Elementary and The Goldbergs. Still awaiting word on their future are dramas A Million Little Things and Big Sky, as well as comedies The Wonder Years, Home Economics, and The Conners. The network also previously ordered Avalon straight to series from David E. Kelley.
