Man Responsible For Killing Nicki Minaj’s Father In Hit-And-Run Accident Pleads Guilty

Roommates, there has been an enormous update dealing with the death of Nicki Minaj’s father. According to TMZ, Charles Polevich has pleaded guilty to the death of Robert Maraj. Reports show he’s charged with one count of leaving the scene of an incident without reporting and one count of tampering with physical evidence. Both counts are felonies.

As we previously reported, Charles struck Robert in a hit-and-run accident in February 2021. During the fatal accident, Charles hit Robert with his vehicle while crossing the street in Mineola, a suburban area outside of Long Island, New York. At the time, authorities confirmed that Charles initially got out of his vehicle to check if Robert was okay before fleeing the scene without alerting police or helping the rap superstar’s father.

Although Charles faces serious felonies, he was only sentenced to a year or less in jail. People state that acting State Supreme Court Justice Howard Sturim advised Charles of the conditions of the plea deal, saying, “I’ll sentence you to no more than a year in jail.” Charles was initially facing up to 11 years behind bars. Upon his release, he will be required to complete community service. As well as have his license suspended. Nicki’s mother, Carol Maraj, spoke out about the short sentence stating,

“I’m not happy with that… one year in jail. I’m not happy with that.” Carol explained her experience seeing Charles in court, adding, “I was angry, very, very angry. I started to shake because it brought back all the memories of that night when I was sitting in the hospital.”

Roommates, we will keep you updated as Charles is slated to return to court on August 3rd for sentencing.
