Naomi Judd, member of the American duo The Judds, has died at the age of 76.

It is reported by The Associated Press with reference to the statement of the daughters of the performer Wynonna and Ashley.

The demise of the singer became known on Saturday, April 30. “Today, we sisters are faced with a tragedy. We lost our beautiful mother due to mental illness. We are broken. We are experiencing deep grief and know that we loved her as much as the audience loved her,” the singer’s daughter wrote.

On Sunday, May 1, Judd was to be memorialized at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum in Nashville, Tennessee.

Naomi Judd was born on January 11, 1946, and was named Diana Ellen at birth. Together with her daughter Wynonna, she organized the country duo The Judds; the team won five Grammy awards. 

In the fall of 1990, Naomi announced her retirement due to chronic hepatitis. Prior to this, the duo embarked on a 124-day farewell tour, the Love Can Build a Bridge Farewell Tour, which concluded in December 1991 at Tennessee State University.

This group will become a true legend of American and world country music. The group has five albums that have reached platinum or gold status. The most popular songs were Why Not Me, Rockin’ with the Rhythm of the Rain, and Grandpa.

In addition to several subsequent performances together, Naomi and Wynonna continued their solo careers until they announced a reunion tour for 2022. Naomi published her autobiography Love Can Build a Bridge in 1993 and has also hosted a talk show and worked as a judge and mentor on a series of TV entertainment programs.
