The British Academy Television Awards, Sunday, 18.00, BBC1

Well, this is a strange old slot, the BAFTAs nestling in the God slot at Sunday teatime. Normally it’s been shown on an hour or so’s delay, but as this isn’t billed as being shown live we’re assuming it’ll be pretty much as-live and hence an even more ragged edit than usual. To be honest, this is never a very good show – and we do not know why they persist on showing shots of the losers straight after they announce the winners, it is plain bad manners – but Richard Ayoade’s an entertaining host, and our two favourite bits will still be present and correct, the obits (natch) and the incongruity of clips from obscure and challenging series being screened on primetime BBC1, this year with the added fun of that being to a family audience who were expecting Countryfile.
