(Update) Mike Tyson Won’t Be Charged For Physical Altercation With Airplane Passenger

Mike Tyson will not face criminal charges after putting his champion hands on an airplane passenger in April.

As previously reported, TMZ obtained a video last month that shows Mike punching a man several times in the head. At the time, it was unclear why the man received the lil’ beat down inside an aircraft at the San Francisco International Airport. However, Mike’s representation stated that the passenger acted aggressively and consistently disturbed Mike. Even after Mike asked the passenger to leave him alone, reports say the passenger persisted.

Mike & The Punched Passenger Requested No Charges Be Filed

On Tuesday, news broke that the San Mateo County District Attorney’s Office closed the case. Per the Associated Press, prosecutors decided against pursuing charges given “the circumstances” of the fight. Police previously stated that the alleged victim was not cooperative with the investigation, giving very little details about the fight.

“These [circumstances] include the conduct of the victim leading up to the incident, the interaction between Mr. Tyson and the victim, as well as the requests of both the victim and Mr. Tyson that no charges be filed in this case,” District Attorney Stephen Wagstaffe said in a statement, per AP.

In addition to acting aggressively, Mike’s representation also previously shared that the passenger “threw a water bottle at him while he was in his seat.”

Video Shows Mike Tyson Raining Punches On The Passeneger

Early reports said Mike was exercising patience with the overly excited passenger who wouldn’t stop talking to him. One video of the viral April 20 interaction shows the passenger standing behind Mike’s seat talking loudly. Another video shows the actual flurry of punches.

A third video clip of the aftermath shows the passenger wearing a disgruntled expression and blood leaking from his hairline area down to his eyebrow. At the time, TMZ reported that the man sought medical and police attention following the fight.

Mike’s Representation Reacts To The Case Being Closed

Mike’s attorneys, David Z. Chesnoff, Richard A. Schonfeld and Martin A. Sabelli, responded to the news with a celebratory tone, even thanking the D.A.

Well, Mike walked away charge-free and the punched passenger walked away with (some blood) quite the story to tell!
