The CW Cancels ‘Charmed’, ‘Dynasty’, ‘Legacies’, ‘Roswell, New Mexico’, ‘In The Dark’, ‘Naomi’, and ‘4400’
It’s a bloodbath at The CW today with the network cancelling many of its current series. This is the first time in years that the network had cancelled multiple series without giving them time to officially wrap storylines up. The change likely has to do with the pending sale of the network. Paramount and Warner Bros. Discovery are the two parent companies currently with them looking to sell their majority stakes.
Charmed is a remake of the classic series of the same name which aired on The WB for eight seasons. The series is currently in its fourth season.
Dynasty is a remake of the classic soapy drama of the same name. The series is currently in its fifth season.
Legacies is a spinoff of The Vampire Diaries and The Originals which follows supernatural beings. The ending of the series fourth season will wrap 14 years of The Vampire Diaries universe.
Roswell, New Mexico is another remake of a classic series which aired on The WB for three seasons. The upcoming fourth and final season is set to premiere June 6.
In The Dark is a drama which follows a blind woman who attempts to solve a murder on her own. The series’ fifth and final season premieres June 6.
Superhero series Naomi is based on a DC comic which follows a young girl who finds out she has powers and is not from this world. It recently wrapped its first season on a cliffhanger.
Drama series 4400 was a remake of the USA Network series of the same name which aired three seasons. The series followed a group of people who disappeared throughout history, only to all appear at the same time together in 2021.
These cancellations come after the recent cancellations of Batwoman and Legends of Tomorrow after three and seven seasons.
New series Tom Swift and returning series Stargirl have yet been given word on their futures.
