How was the concert in honor of the platinum anniversary of the Queen

The third day of celebrations on the occasion of the platinum anniversary of Elizabeth II ended with a grand concert in the square near Buckingham Palace in London.

Diana Ross, Queen, Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli, Duran Duran, Alicia Keys, German composer Hans Zimmer and other musicians performed there in honor of the 70th anniversary of the Queen’s reign. Unfortunately, the Queen herself was not able to attend the event, but she watched the live broadcast from Windsor Castle.

The concert began with a short humorous sketch, recorded in advance, in which Elizabeth II drinks tea with a teddy bear named Paddington, a character in the books of Michael Bond.

Then, confessing to the guest that she, like him, also always carries a sandwich with orange jam, the Queen, together with the teddy bear, tapped the rhythm of the song. We will rock you by the Queen group, which opened the concert together with the drummers of the royal guard, along the edge of the teacup.

The performances of the musicians alternated with archival videos of Elizabeth II and congratulations from politicians and celebrities. Among them were actor Daniel Craig, bassist, and co-founder of the Beatles Paul McCartney, former US First Lady Michelle Obama, and many others.

In the end, the grandson of Elizabeth II, Prince William, and the heir to the throne, Prince Charles, took the stage in turn, who also congratulated the Queen on her anniversary. Among those present were also Kate Middleton with George and Charlotte, Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice.

Recalling the Queen’s 1989 Christmas message, in which she called on all nations to work together to protect the earth for “our children and our children’s children,” William said: “This is my strong hope. My grandmother’s words will be as true in 70 years as they are tonight, that as a nation, we are united in a common cause because then there is always room for hope.
