During an interview with IGN for the upcoming Sonic Frontiers, Sega’s Creative Officer Takashi Iizuka has expressed his ongoing interest in creating a new Sonic Adventure game. It’s been over 20 years since Sonic Adventure 2 originally released on the Sega Dreamcast.

Not only that, but Iizuka stated that he hopes to use the lessons learned with Sonic Frontiers and apply them to a hypothetical future Sonic Adventure. Here’s what he had to say:

I’ve mentioned this in previous interviews, but I would like to continue the Sonic Adventure series. Sonic Adventure also contains smaller open spaces known as Adventure Fields. I think we’ve used what we learned with those in this game as well. I haven’t thought about my next game yet. But I personally think it’d be nice if we could use what we learn with this game in Sonic Adventure.

Iizuka also discusses how Sonic Frontiers started and why the team felt the need to move into a more open world setting for the game. We’d definitely recommend checking out the full interview for some more insights into the game and the series at large.

What do you make of Iizuka’s comments on the Sonic Adventure series? Are you hoping to see a new entry? Let us know!
