Brody Jenner Celebrated The Hills New Beginnings’ Cancelation: MTV Lied to Us!

MTV canceled The Hills: New Beginnings after a series of issues and, let’s face it, a lukewarm reception.

It’s pretty disappointing to come back for a reality TV revival only to get canned after two seasons.

At least, you’d think so.

Brody Jenner wasn’t disappointed. In fact, he was downright “stoked.”

It’s relatively rare for a television star to want their project to end.

And it is even rarer for that person to openly admit it.

Brody is doing just that. Constance Wu must be green with envy.

Speaking to People, Brody Jenner confessed that he felt “stoked” when the show ended.

“To be honest, yeah,” he confessed.

Brody described: “It just wasn’t the same experience.”

“It was very stressful,” he expressed.

“There was a lot of manipulation involved,” Brody accused.

He summarized that “It was just a lot.”

According to Brody, MTV and production used deception to trick them into signing on for the revival.

The pitch that he heard, he says, would have been very different than what they ended up filming.

“They had told us in the beginning that, ‘Hey, we’re going to do a new ‘Hills,’” Brody began.

“And,” he recalled production claiming, “‘we want you guys to be on, but we’re going to hire a new, younger cast.’”

To many reality stars hoping for a comeback, that would have discouraged them.

But to Brody, and perhaps to his castmates, that pitch seemed much more realistic.

Adding in a new generation of stars could have been exactly what this revival needed.

Not a hard reboot, but not a nostalgia-grab revival either.

A peaceful transition of power from one cast to the next, so to speak.

In fact … MTV is now just doing a regular reboot, featuring a younger and less homogeneous cast.

Brody says that they would have done the same thing for this revival.

The difference is that they would have appeared alongside the OGs.

“I was like, ‘Oh, that’s great.’ They’re going to hire a new, younger cast,” Brody shared.

“‘You guys will come in as the OGs,’” he recalled hearing.

Brody says that production assured him that “‘It’s not going to be focused and centered around you guys.’”

That is not what ended up happening.

Instead, the new show focused entirely upon the array of has-beens.

But after so many years, recreating the original series was simply not realistic.

Brody recalled feeling “so much pressure” to drive the storylines on the revival.

“I’m like, ‘Dude, I’m f–king 37 years old,” he expressed.

“I don’t go out to nightclubs every night and go hunting for chicks in nightclubs,” Brody explained. “That’s just not me anymore.”

Instead, Brody shared that he and other cast members actively tried to help MTV find young cast members.

They suggested “a bunch of different young people.”

“I offered Brandon [Thomas] Lee, who was great for the show,” Brody cited. He’s right!

“I had a bunch of people that I kind of gave them and they just didn’t take them,” Brody lamented.

He added: “They’re like, ‘No.’”

We would love to one day find out MTV and production’s side of things, because Brody’s account is downright bizarre.
