HBO’s House of the Dragon premieres August 21. Based on George R.R. Martin’s “Fire & Blood,” the ten episode series, set 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones, tells the story of House Targaryen. The series stars Paddy Considine, Matt Smith, Olivia Cooke, Emma D’Arcy, Steve Toussaint, Eve Best, Fabien Frankel, Sonoya Mizuno, and Rhys Ifans. 

Season three of Netflix’s Bridgerton is currently in production. Daniel Francis, Sam Phillips and James Phoon have joined the cast. The new season finds Penelope Featherington finally given up on her long-held crush on Colin Bridgerton after hearing his disparaging words about her last season. She has, however, decided it’s time to take a husband, preferably one who will provide her with enough independence to continue her double life as Lady Whistledown, far away from her mother and sisters. But lacking in confidence, Penelope’s attempts on the marriage mart fail spectacularly. Meanwhile, Colin has returned from his summer travels with a new look and a serious sense of swagger. But he’s disheartened to realize that Penelope, the one person who always appreciated him as he was, is giving him the cold shoulder. Eager to win back her friendship, Colin offers to mentor Penelope in the ways of confidence to help her find a husband this season. But when his lessons start working a little too well, Colin must grapple with whether his feelings for Penelope are truly just friendly. Complicating matters for Penelope is her rift with Eloise, who has found a new friend in a very unlikely place, while Penelope’s growing presence in the ton makes it all the more difficult to keep her Lady Whistledown alter ego a secret. 

H.E.R. is set to star as Belle in ABC’s upcoming Beauty and the Beast: A 30th Celebration special. The acclaimed R&B singer will lead audiences through the world of Belle with never before seen musical performances celebrating and paying homage to the beloved tale in the animated and live-action blended special. The two hour event will air December 15. 

House of Ho returns for a second season on HBO Max August 25 with three episodes. Three episodes will then air September 1 with the final four episodes airing September 8. The first season introduced us to patriarch Binh and matriarch Hue, Vietnamese immigrants who achieved the ultimate American Dream and built a multi-million dollar real estate and banking empire. Filled with laughter, love, and luxury, their son Washington and his wife Lesley, their daughter Judy and her fiancé Nate Nguyễn, and Aunt Tina and Cousin Sammy live under the constant pressure to live up to their family’s expectations. 

Freema Agyeman will not be returning for the fifth and final season of New Amsterdam on NBC. Agyeman ‘s character was supposed to get married in the fourth season finale but never got on the plane to New York. Agyeman is currently filming the Sky comedy series Dreamland also starring Lily Allen. The final season of New Amsterdam premieres September 20. 

William Stanford Davis has been promoted to series regular on ABC’s Abbott Elementary. He recurred in the first season of the comedy series set in an elementary school. 

Kurt Russell and Wyatt Russell have joined the cast of Apple TV+’s live action Untitled Monster Series. The series is based on Legendary’s Monsterverse franchise. They will star alongside Anna Sawai, Ren Watabe, Kiersey Clemons, Joe Tippett and Elisa Lasowski. Following the thunderous battle between Godzilla and the Titans that leveled San Francisco and the shocking new reality that monsters are real, the untitled series will explore one family’s journey to uncover its buried secrets and a legacy linking them to the secret organization known as Monarch. 

NBC has ordered its pilot Found to series. The series comes from Nkechi Okoro Carroll, the All American and All American: Homecoming showrunner, Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros. Television. The series stars Shanola Hampton, Brett Dalton, Gabrielle Walsh, Arlen Escarpeta, Karan Oberoi, with Kelli Williams and Mark-Paul Gosselaar. The network also passed on its pilots Unbroken and Blank Slate. The Irrational, Untitled Mike Daniels, and Untitled Mike O’Malley Comedy pilot remain in contention. 

CBS has given a pilot order to The Never Game. Justin Hartley was attached to the project and will also serve as an executive producer on the pilot. The pilot is an adaptation of Jeffery Deaver’s novel. 

Blackpink’s Jennie has joined HBO’s The Idol. She joins The Weeknd and Lily-Rose Depp in the series set against the backdrop of the music industry. It centers on a self-help guru and leader of a modern-day cult, who develops a complicated relationship with an up-and-coming pop idol.

Paramount+ ordered a UK version of MTV’s Are You The One?. It will be hosted by Joelah Noble  and premiere later this year. 

Netflix has renewed I Am A Killer for a third season. The series features interviews with murderers on death row along with others spending life sentences behind bars. They recount the circumstances of what led them behind bars.

E! has renewed Botched for an eighth season. World-renowned Drs. Paul Nassif and Terry Dubrow bring their unparalleled surgical skills and hilarious banter back to the O.R. for another season of mind-blowing patient transformations. The series will premiere in 2023. 

Hulu’s docuseries Legacy: The True Story of the LA Lakers premieres August 15. The series captures the remarkable rise and unprecedented success of one of the most dominant and iconic franchises in professional sports. Featuring exclusive access to the Buss Family and probing, revealing interviews with players, coaches, and front office execs, this ten episode documentary series chronicles this extraordinary story from the inside – told only by the people who lived it. When charismatic real estate tycoon Dr. Jerry Buss purchased the Los Angeles Lakers in a wildly risky and complex business deal, nobody could’ve predicted just how much success was to come. 

The new season of Farmhouse Fixer premieres on HGTV August 24. Jonathan Knight will bring more centuries-old New England farmhouses back to life in the new season. Jonathan and designer Kristina Crestin renovate old properties into exquisite modern homes, all while keeping the original charm. This season, fans also can look forward to multiple guest appearances from fellow HGTV stars including Lyndsay Lamb and Leslie Davis, Jenny Marrs and Mike Lemieux. In addition, Jonathan will offer his expertise to TLC stars Bill Klein and Jennifer Arnold as they look for a farmhouse in New England. 

Welcome to Wrexham premieres on FX August 24. In 2020, Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds teamed up to purchase the 5th tier Red Dragons in the hopes of turning the club into an underdog story the whole world could root for. The worry? Rob and Ryan have no experience in football or working with each other. Hulu’s limited series Mike premieres August 25. The eight episode series will air two episodes weekly. The series explores the dynamic and controversial story of Mike Tyson and the tumultuous ups and downs of Tyson’s boxing career and personal life – from being a beloved global athlete to a pariah and back again. Focusing the lens on Mike Tyson, the series examines class in America, race in America, fame and the power of media, misogyny, the wealth divide, the promise of the American Dream and ultimately our own role in shaping Mike’s story. It is an unauthorized and no-holds-barred look at the life of Mike Tyson – and it is one wild ride.

Docuseries Clusterf**k: Woodstock ’99 premieres on Netflix August 3. Woodstock ’99 was supposed to be a millennium-defining celebration of peace, love and great music. Instead, the festival degenerated into an epic clusterf*ck of fires, riots and destruction. Utilizing rare insider footage and eyewitness interviews with an impressive list of festival staffers, performers and attendees, the three episode series goes behind the scenes to reveal the egos, greed and music that fueled three days of utter chaos. 

True crime series The Hillside Strangler: Devil in Disguise premieres August 2 on Peacock. The four episode series offers a new, in-depth peek inside the minds of notorious serial killing cousins Kenneth Bianchi and Angelo Buono who allegedly impersonated off-duty police officers to lure unsuspecting victims to their deaths before leaving their bodies to be found on the hillsides of East Los Angeles during the 1970s. 

School Tales The Series premieres on Netflix August 10. Eight horrifying comics stories have been adapted into an eight episode series that will scare everyone off the school ground at night: A girl jumping to her death; a haunted library; canteen food made from human flesh; a headless ghost in the school warehouse; a devil-infested room; a vengeful demon in an abandoned building; and a classroom where only dead students attend class. Prepare to face a new kind of fear. During the day, the school belongs to the students. But at night, it’s a different story.    

Miniseries Santa Evita premieres July 26 on hulu. This is the story of Eva Perón after her death. The embalmed body of “Evita” had an eventful journey that lasted for 22 years, and was every bit as eventful as her 33 years of life. Evita died in 1952, but her corpse waited above ground for three years for the construction of a monument that was ultimately never built. In 1955, President Perón’s government was overthrown by a military coup, who hid the body for 19 years to prevent it from becoming a symbol against the regime. While only a political figure for six years as General Perón’s wife, her corpse influenced Argentine politics for more than two decades – weaving a morbidly strange story that passed into the realm of mythology. To the military officers that took over, Evita was even more dangerous than when she was alive, as all feared that errant corpse without a resting place.

Comedy Central will air South Park The 25th Anniversary Concert August 14. The concert celebrates the 25th anniversary of the renowned franchise with iconic songs from the historic series. Filmed in Colorado at the renowned Red Rocks Park and Amphitheatre, the concert celebrates the essential role music has played in the series since its debut 25 years ago. Joined by Primus and Ween, Parker and Stone will perform many fan favorites. Primus and Ween will also collaborate with their own songs in honor of their long-standing relationship with South Park

Anime series Rilakkuma’s Theme Park Adventure premieres on Netflix August 25. This series depicts an active day for Rilakkuma and friends in great detail as they visit a theme park that is about to close down and encounter an incident that arises there and the various people involved. Not only do familiar characters from Rilakkuma and Kaoru appear, but so do many new characters with unique personalities!
