The much-anticipated Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass Wave 2 will be officially racing onto Switch on August 4th. Yesterday’s announcement revealed which new tracks will be part of the DLC, showcasing both the classic remasters and an entirely new course, Sky-High Sundae.

The reappearing courses in Wave 2 have caught our attention, and the same can be said for YouTube channel GameXplain, which has put together a handy side-by-side comparison of what the new remasters look like next to their previous appearances.

The seven courses all appear next to their original appearance — except for Kalamari Desert, which GameXplain use Mario Kart 7‘s interpretation. The video shows us gameplay from each retro course alongside footage from yesterday’s reveal trailer to demonstrate just how much these courses have been updated.

Aside from an update in graphics, we can’t help but notice just how much the game’s mechanics have improved as well! Playing Mushroom Gorge with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe‘s smoother glide controls is going to make navigating those flying fungi a whole lot easier.

Take a look at the video below to see just how the courses stack up to their historical appearances!
