Vince Staples Lands His Own Scripted Comedy Series At Netflix With Kenya Barris Set To Executive Produce

Netflix is continuing to be part of the green light gang and rapper Vince Staples is the latest person to benefit. It was just announced that Vince Staples has landed his very own scripted comedy series—and ‘Black-ish’ creator Kenya Barris is coming along to help.

@Deadline reports, Vince Staples is set to flex his comedic skills in front of the camera courtesy of streaming giant Netflix, as it has been confirmed that ‘The Vince Staples Show’ is on the way. The semi-autobiographical series is loosely based on Vince’s life, where he will act as a creator, co-executive producer and star. The upcoming series is the latest project from Kenya Barris underneath his multi-million deal with Netflix.

Speaking about stepping into the shoes as a leading man in his own show, Vince expressed his excitement. “I am excited to partner with Netflix and Kenya Barris on ‘The Vince Staples Show.’ This has been something I have been developing for some time and I am happy it’s coming to fruition,” he said.

Similarly, Netflix Head Of Comedy, Tracy Pakosta, also shared how the company is looking forward to the project. “It’s our mission to work with the best artists in the world. Vince has already established himself as one of the most talented young musicians today and we’re really excited about how his sensibility – and sense of humor – will translate into a unique comedy series.”
