Disney+ Day kicked off with the surprise release of the concert film BTS: Permission to Dance on Stage – LA. The special showcases the live performances of the BTS concerts held at the Los Angeles SoFi Stadium Nov 27-28 and December 1-2. The concert film is stage-focused and includes performances of the group’s hit songs “Dynamite,” “Butter” and “Permission to Dance.” BTS, an acronym of Bangtan Sonyeondan or “Beyond the Scene,” are a South Korean boy band that have been capturing the hearts of millions of fans globally since their debut in June 2013. BTS features RM, Jin, SUGA, j-hope, Jimin, V, and Jung Kook.
Anne Rice’s Interview with the Vampire premieres on AMC October 2. The series follows Louis de Pointe du Lac, Lestat de Lioncourt and Claudia’s epic story of love, blood, and the perils of immortality, as told to journalist Daniel Molloy. Chafing at the limitations of life as a Black man in 1900s New Orleans, Louis finds it impossible to resist the rakish Lestat de Lioncourt’s offer of the ultimate escape: joining him as his vampire companion. But Louis’s intoxicating new powers come with a violent price, and the introduction of Lestat’s newest fledgling, the child vampire Claudia, soon sets them on a decades-long path of revenge and atonement.
The third and final season of Star Trek: Picard will premiere February 16, 2023. The ten episode season features Patrick Stewart reprising his iconic role as Jean-Luc Picard, which he played for seven seasons on Star Trek: The Next Generation, and follows this iconic character into the next chapter of his life. LeVar Burton, Michael Dorn, Jonathan Frakes, Gates McFadden, Marina Sirtis, Brent Spiner, Jeri Ryan and Michelle Hurd star alongside Patrick Stewart in the third and final season.
Carol Kane will recur on the upcoming second season of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. Kane will play an engineer in the Paramount+ series. The series follows the crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise under the command of Captain Christopher Pike.
Netflix’s The Mole revival series will launch as a ten episode, three week event series, premiering October 7. The new series will be hosted by journalist Alex Wagner, continuing the tradition of having a journalist as a host. The series is a high-stakes competition series and in this reimagined version, twelve players work together in challenges to add money to a pot that only one of them will win at the end. Among the players is one person who has secretly been designated “the Mole” and tasked with sabotaging the group’s money-making efforts. In the end, one player will outlast their competition and expose the Mole to win the prize pot.
Dancing with the Stars has announced its upcoming celebrity cast for its 31st season and first on Disney+. Competing for the mirror ball trophy are Joseph Baena, Selma Blair, Wayne Brady, Sam Champion, Jessie James Decker, Trevor Donovan, Daniel Durant, Teresa Giudice, Vinny Guadagnino, Cheryl Ladd, Jason Lewis, Shangela, Jordin Sparks, Gabby Windey, Charli D’Amelio and Heidi D’Amelio. The live shows begin September 19.
Hulu’s Solar Opposites has scheduled a Halloween special set for October 3. A Sinister Halloween Scary Opposites Solar Special comes after the recently released third season. Last season, the series aired a holiday special.
Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Mustafa Shakir, Terry Pheto and Lerato Mvelase have joined the cast of Showtime’s drama series King Shaka. The series is an epic drama centered around one man’s personal journey from stigmatized childhood to legendary king. They join previously announced cast Charles Babalola, Aïssa Maïga, Thando DIomo, Thapelo Mokoena, and Warren Masemola.
Darren Mann, Michelle Randolph, James Badge Dale, Marley Shelton, Brian Geraghty, Aminah Nieves and Julia Schlaepfe have been cast in Paramount+’s upcoming series 1923. They join Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren in the Yellowstone prequel series. The series will introduce a new generation of the Dutton family and explore the early twentieth century when pandemics, historic drought, the end of Prohibition and the Great Depression all plague the mountain west, and the Duttons who call it home.
HBO Max’s cooking competition series The Big Brunch premieres November 10. The eight episode series celebrates inspiring and undiscovered culinary voices from every corner of the country. Hosted by Dan Levy, the series gives ten talented chefs the opportunity to share their stories and business dreams while vying for a life altering $300,000 cash prize. Levy will also act as judge alongside fellow culinary experts chef Sohla El-Waylly and restaurateur Will Guidara.
Oprah and Viola The Woman King premieres on OWN September 13. Oprah sits down with Viola Davis to discuss her new film, The Woman King. Omar Sy has been cast in Netflix’s upcoming live action Yasuke series. Sy will play Yasuke, an African samurai in Japan in the five episode series. The streamer previously adapted the story as an anime.
Hulu’s Career Opportunities in Murder and Mayhem has announced recurring cast for the upcoming series. Linda Emond, Jayne Atkinson, Jack Cutmore-Scott, Michael Gladis, Lisa Lu, Danny Johnson, Karoline, Jere Burns, Tamberla Perry, David Marshall Grant, and Sophia Reid Gantzert.
