Here’s the start of a repeat run for one of ITV’s most acclaimed shows of the nineties, which we’re seeing again as a tribute to Robbie Coltrane. Actually ITV weren’t too sure about it at the start, but by the end of the first run, by which point pretty much everyone was talking about it, they wanted a second series to run for seventeen weeks. It established Jimmy McGovern as an A-list writer and Coltrane as one of our most sought after actors, and pretty much all the rest of the cast became massively famous as well. The whole of the first series and the beginning of the second in double bills this week, with presumably the rest to follow.
